We Welcome You to the Keep Hickory Creek Beautiful Website!
This is your source for information about Keep Hickory Creek Beautiful. KHCB is a committee of the Parks and Recreation Board supported by the Hickory Creek Council.
Below are a few announcements and features of some of the activities we offer Hickory Creek residents. We have our meetings at the Hickory Creek IHOP (just south of Swisher Rd. on the southbound I-35E access road) at noon the third Thursday of each month. You are welcome to join us.
Keep Hickory Creek Beautiful (KHCB).
KHCB is an affiliate of Keep Texas Beautiful(KTB). KHCB sponsors and supports programs addressing litter prevention, beautification, waste reduction, and recycling. Programs and events are hosted locally by KTB community affiliates, civic groups, businesses, schools, individuals, etc. These programs, as well as the many helpful resources help us engage the community to get involved in ensuring a clean and beautiful future for all of Hickory Creek. All four of the Lake Cities are now KTB affiliates.

Who Would You Like to Nominate?
During the annual Arbor Day event on October 20, 2012, KHCB will present a plaque to a Hickory Creek resident, business, volunteer organizations, or town employee. The award is given in recognition of having made a significant contribution to forests and green spaces, improving tree care, and beautification of the town this year. Nominations will be accepted during the year until September 22.
Priority is given to improvements of exemplary landscaping, tree planting, or tree or forest management using techniques recommended by the Texas Forest Service and promoting healthy well–structured trees. Please go to the "About Us" page and fill out the contact form to make your nomination.
Planning a Tree Planting Event?
Whether you are an organization, business, school, or simply an individual, KHCB can assist you by directing you and your helpers of all ages on preferred tree planting practices. Contact Linda Fulfer using our contact form whether you need to arrange just a short briefing for you or your assistants, or a full tree planting, pruning, or tree risk assessment workshop. This offer is open to anyone in the area, also outside Hickory Creek.
Congratulations to William Canales!
Hickory Creek is very fortunate to have the assistance of dedicated volunteers from several Scout troops in the region. William, a scout from Troop 175 in Irving Texas, completed his Eagle project in Sycamore Bend Park in February 2012. His project involved resurfacing and lining the existing trail with logs, erecting "Fishing" and "Do Not Litter" signs and placing a litter basket and a bench at the end of the trail. A large portion of the original Cross Timbers Forest is located within our town.
